Monsanto is a large agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology company. It was acquired by Bayer AG in 2018. The company is accused of being aware of cancer-causing side effects of its popular Roundup herbicide products, but the company denies that knowledge. Monsanto and Bayer have failed to adequately warn consumers of the danger.
If you were exposed to this herbicide, you may have grounds for a lawsuit. As of July 2021, Monsanto (Bayer AG) is facing over 125,000 Roundup-related lawsuits. These lawsuits involve people claiming to have suffered cancer from exposure to Roundup.
Our Bayer Roundup lawyer at Craig Swapp & Associates is taking cases. Clients who have suffered the following kinds of cancer due to exposure to Roundup herbicide should contact us:

Roundup has long been used as an effective herbicide in clearing unwanted weeds. The primary active ingredient is glyphosate.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer is a branch of the World Health Organization (WHO). They conducted studies in 2015 that concluded that glyphosate-based herbicides are a probable carcinogen in humans.
Their report referenced studies showing a significant increase in cases of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, especially in agriculture specialists who regularly used Bayer Roundup or other glyphosate weed killers:
Monsanto (Bayer AG) continues to argue that Roundup does not increase cancer rates. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) currently takes the position that Roundup has no meaningful risks to human health. Roundup remains on the market, regardless of multiple studies suggesting glyphosate exposure causes increased cancer rates.
The lawsuits against the makers of Roundup argue that Monsanto (Bayer AG) knew the risks inherent in Roundup and that it failed to adequately advertise the cancer risks to consumers.
Court documents reveal that Monsanto (Bayer AG) made efforts to influence scientific research into Roundup. The company even attempted to sway news media into reporting it as a safe product. This is despite the fact that there were doubts about the product’s safety within the company.
Here are two examples of early Roundup lawsuits against Monsanto (Bayer AG) that successfully reached settlement:
Dewayne Johnson was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was ultimately awarded $20.5 million in damages. A jury in San Francisco found that Monsanto (Bayer AG) had failed to warn consumers of cancer risks posed by Roundup. Johnson routinely used Roundup and another Monsanto product called Ranger Pro in his work as a groundskeeper.
Edwin Hardeman was ultimately awarded $25 million in 2019. It was determined that Roundup was a substantial factor in his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hardeman regularly used Roundup for twenty-six years to eliminate weeds and poison oak. The verdict resulted in Costco stores discontinuing their Roundup sales.
There have been other successful lawsuits in the past few years. For example, Alva and Alberta Pilliod were awarded $55 million in compensatory damages and $2 billion in punitive damages for Roundup’s role in their both being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The Pilliods weren’t professional landscapers; they simply used Roundup around their home for many years.
As more lawsuits are settled, more Roundup-using cancer victims will receive settlements for their suffering. The makers of Roundup continue to argue the safety of glyphosate-based herbicides. But it is evident that courts and juries are finding Roundup liable for increasing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma rates in consumers.
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other cancers potentially linked to Roundup are serious and often fatal health conditions. The current legal climate surrounding glyphosate-based herbicide is complicated. Some groups are claiming that the herbicides are safe for humans. Other studies suggest that exposure to Roundup and similar herbicide products causes cancer.
Those seeking fair compensation face those complexities and others. Most importantly, you and your lawyer will need to prove that your cancer was caused by Roundup.
