NuvaRing Linked to Strokes, Heart Attacks and Blot Clots

NuvaRing is a hormonal contraceptive ring used by some 1.5 million women.   This ring device combines ethinyl estradiol and estonogestrel. Estonogestrel is a metobolite of desogestrel, which is a potentially dangerous progestin.

With the strong hormonal components of NuvaRing, there is a greater risk of blood clotting, especially for women over the age of 35, who smoke, have high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels.
