Toyota Recall to Prevent Car Accidents

Date Posted: December 17th, 2009 | View Comments

Many of you have heard about Toyota recalling many of its vehicles due to a problem where a vehicle has what they term “unintended acceleration”. Toyota is representing the problem as stemming from the front floor mats and that due to the design of the pedal, if a floor mat becomes jammed up into the pedal it can cause it to stick in an acceleration position and not release the pedal. They have recommended that if you own one of the vehicles below you immediately remove the driver’s side floor mat to prevent this from happening to you.

Camry: 2007 -2010
Avalon: 2005 -2010
Prius: 2004 -2009
Tacoma: 2005 2010
Tundra: 2007- 2010

Part of what triggered this recall was the death of a California Highway Patrol Officer and three family members who tragically had this unintended acceleration cause a car accident.
